Acceptable use
What you may and may not put on OnTheDub.
This is short because it is meant to be read. It applies to everyone with an account, and to every photograph, note and message you upload.
Photograph the property, and nothing else
Evidence photos exist to show the condition of a building. Do not upload images of people, of the inside of an occupied home, of anything unrelated to the job, or of anything you would not be comfortable an investor, an insurer and a court all seeing.
Do not upload sexual, violent or hateful imagery
This applies to profile photos as well as evidence. There is no threshold for this — one is enough to lose the account.
Never upload sexual images of minors
This is a crime. Accounts are closed immediately and the material is reported to the authorities, along with everything we hold about the account that uploaded it.
Do not misrepresent a visit
Do not check in from somewhere you are not, do not submit photographs taken on another day or at another property, and do not answer the checklist for something you did not look at. The whole product is that an investor can believe the report.
Respect the people at the property
Many of these properties are occupied. Stay on the exterior, do not knock unless the job says to, and do not photograph residents or their vehicles beyond what the checklist asks.
Treat the other side decently
Do not harass, threaten or abuse the person on the other end of a job, in notes, in instructions or in reviews.
Reporting something
Every report you can see carries a Report a problem control, and each photograph can be reported individually from the image viewer. Reports go to an operator, not to the person you are reporting, and nobody else sees what you write.
What we do about it
An operator can remove an image, suspend an account so it cannot sign in, or close it entirely. Removing a photograph from a submitted report leaves a marker in its place, so both sides can see that something was taken down rather than quietly finding one fewer photo than there was. Every one of these actions is recorded against the operator who took it.
Closing an account does not erase the work attached to it. A contractor’s submitted reports and a record of what was paid stay, because they are evidence for the person on the other side of them too.
